What Customers Say About D-Link DWL-3200AP Managed AP PoE AES SNMP 802.11g Plenum Chassis:

This AP works great. It comes out of the box with a 192.168.0.50 IP address so keep that in mind as you are setting it up for the first time. Great range and speed. It didn't come with an Admin/Install guide (which would have been nice) but you can download the pdf from D-Link's website. Beware, if/when you change the admin console password, it doesn't seem to like passwords over 10 chars. Make sure to update the firmware to the latest to get rid of a few of the old bugs.

Unfortunately this AP doesn't appear to let you create a private subnet for some reason, I think it assumes you want to 'pass-through' public IPs to everyone.but how do you configure this if your network uses static IPs and you want to use the DHCP feature in the Dlink. Unlike the people here I have found this difficult to setup for my business. My plan was to set this up with a static public IP and use it's DHCP feature to create a private (192.168.1.x) subnet for wireless, so laptops can join our network quickly and easily. The manual doesn't even try to explain, and their tech support people had no idea what I was talking about. So this seems like a great product, but I'm puzzled the most basic of network features is not included or explained.

In the reliability department it is just 110% excellent.Feature-wise is also 5 stars. Conceded, on the first floor there are spots where I get a poor signal, but even with poor signals, I am never disconnected and I still get 11 MBps, which is way more than enough for Internet browsing (I have cable, 2 MBps, that translates to 230 kb/s approx). And let's have a look at the price: AMAZINGLY CHEAP. I configured it via its web-based interface and never had to touch it again. It works 100% of the time. I have had this access point for a year now. I'll stop now because it is never-ending. The device is in the second floor, near the center of the house (which is about 10 meters wide and about 18 meters deep) and it covers indoors entirely, both floors. I use it indoors in a 2-story house.

If I ever have problems in an area, I'm sure I'll buy a second one without a second thought. I have not used it, but the AP can log directly to a server (SQL server, I think). I have only had to restart it once and I think it was because of instability in the LAN in general. If you cannot cover your house with one, then get 2. I won't mention everything because you can see detailed information in the DLink website, but you can secure it using various protocols, you can exclude specific MAC addresses, and the AP logs everything. It doesn't say anywhere, and I had to ask DLink support about this: It supports 64 simultaneous clients and its range is VERY good. This thing is rock-solid, the mounting is discrete, the antennas can be positioned, you can configure which antenna to use. :-) Buy with confidence.

Reliable and stable with good user interface. With the current low prices around $115, this is a great deal. I've used lots of low- and mid-price access points and bridges (Linksys, D-Link, Senao/Engenius, Deliberant,.). and I would pick this as the best still in 2008, for overall value.
